Before going to High Point Market we have to admit that we were expecting to see a lot of American companies focusing on traditional, and even conservative, design styles. But, whoa, were we surprised! Not only did manufacturers and vendors offer a wide range of beautiful transitional pieces that can work in many sleek contemporary interiors… But we also stumbled on several industrial looking pieces and even that bohemian style that we are falling in love with!
It is a fact, many design companies are shifting gear and looking for this new middle point of transitional pieces that will work as great in traditional spaces as in contemporary interiors. We saw over and over furnishings that were reminiscent of historical pieces, but with a reinvented arm or bold material that makes it work with any style. Take a look at some of our favorites below.
As for the industrial style also present at High Point Market 2018 we noticed that the ”found object” look is what brands were putting forth. In accessories mainly but also in larger furniture pieces, we saw it in many showrooms. Check out this pieces that have a touch of rustic wood, hammered metal, or distressed leather details.
All pictures are from the Thomasville, Henredon, and Drexel showroom, that shared one huge showroom area in collaboration with Crypton. We adore Ellen Degeneres collection’s industrial desk vignette for Thomasville! What about this amazing dining chair from Henredon, and this gorgeous poster bed, from Drexel?
Rene Cazares who focuses rather on sleek contemporary pieces showcased this side chair designed with a hammered metal detail. It gave the chair that little industrial touch making it unique and special!
At Bernhardt, we admired this dining table with a weathered wood top and metal leg. We also LOVED these industrial, and yet elegant, side chairs with their leather arm detail.
Lastly, we noticed that the bohemian look, which ties in with the found object idea, is also popular. We saw woven and natural fiber on many furniture pieces, and a lot of macrame in accessories, but also on larger pieces!
At Universal Furniture one of their dining room had these dazzling macrame fringed chandeliers. They also had a whole rustic collection downstairs with woven chairs and this stunning mixed wood and metal details bar. The last image is a living room setup and we loved the rug and accessories; a great way to tie in the soft yellow chair.
Here, back again at E.J. Victor, you can see the fringe details and woven furniture, giving it that eclectic bohemian touch.
At Rowe we liked the bohemian vignette at the entrance of the showroom. Between the eclectic rug, the woven accessories, and the weathered wood and glass cabinet, everything felt like it had a story behind it.
These are just a few of the many examples of transitional, industrial and bohemian looking pieces, we saw at High Point Market. It was interesting to see the twist that each brand input in their furnishings. What other trends have you noticed at this year’s spring market? Did you notice ALL the curvy furnishings? Stay tuned because this will be our next highlight of the High Point Market Blog Post Series!
